This Certificate III is designed to develop the range of skills for an Educator to work competently and support Lead Educators in the Early Childhood industry.
Duration and Scheduling
Learning will be conducted in the training centre for 3 hours of Live Online classes or 3 hours of face-to-face training at one of our Campus locations. These sessions are held on Wednesday nights from 5:30pm – 8:30pm.
There are 2 options for delivery of the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care:
Face-to-Face –
- Workplace delivery
- Blended flexible options including RPL where appropriate and by application.
Our lessons are conducted in the classroom with the mode of face-to-face learning, within an Early Childhood Environments and some online guided learning.
We give all students a set of learning guides and books, as well as online guided learning via our learner management system. Each student has access to their own personal portal where they can download and receive their assessments. Trainers are available via the phone, email, or face to face during classes. This ensures that students have full support from the college.
Virtual Learning Campus –
These lessons will be held in our virtual classroom. They are scheduled and hosted in real-time virtually with your trainer.
We give all students a set of learning guides and books, as well as online guided learning via our learner management system. This ensures that students have full support from the college.
Both modes of learning are structured over a 1 – 2 year period, as per the Australian Qualifications Framework volume of learning indicators. A minimum of 1200 hours study is required to allow for sufficient understanding and application of the required skills and knowledge.
The learner must complete the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care within an early childhood education and care setting and the learner will be either an employee or volunteer. It is the responsibility of the learner to source work placement. The training package specifies 160 hours within an early childhood education and care setting.
Methods of Study
We use competency-based assessment for all assessment activities. Students prove competency with demonstrations of written knowledge and practical skills. We take timelines into consideration for practical skills and students must meet the criteria as deemed industry competent by the assessor.
Formative evidence will be assessed in the form of an Assessment Task Portfolio. The Assessment Task Portfolio uses several assessment tools to accommodate the student’s individual needs. The assessment types include:

- Observation Tools
- Recognition of Prior Learning
Entry Requirements
There are no academic pre-requisites. However, we require students to take a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test at time of enrolment.

NOT delivered by Building Futures Education; learners must organise and complete this unit via an external provider. A certified copy of the statement of attainment must be provided to Building Futures Education. This may incur additional costs depending on learner funding.

Step 1: Enrolment Enquiry

Once we have received this form and confirmed eligibility we will send you information regarding your course. You will be required to send back a confirmation that you would like to go ahead training with us.
Step 2: Complete Induction course
You will be sent a link to log into our Student Management System Axcelerate to complete our online induction course. During this induction you will be given in depth information about your course and Building Futures Education. Once this is complete you will be sent the online enrolment form.
Step 3: Commence Training
You will be enrolled into the Nationally Recognised Course you have chosen with Building Futures Education and you can commence your training.
